Having dealt with my fair share of anxiety myself, I knew I wanted to focus on prompts that felt empowering and positive. I’m personally not a fan of writing prompts that force you to mull over negative events that happened in your life or decisions that you regret, unless there’s a learning and growth element to it. So to help you with this, I’ve written out a 30 day writing challenge for you.īut this is not your average writing challenge. If you want to develop the habit of writing, whether you want to write a blog or become an author of any sort, you have to ease yourself into the habit in small stages. Well I certainly didn’t start my throwing myself into the deep end and expecting myself to crank out a certain amount of words everyday. If you too struggle with your inner writing police, I can reassure you, that if I can overcome my writing demons, you can too. I’ve learned to put that nemesis in its place and now I write with ease. Old me would have judged ever sentence and made me see my writing from the eyes of my nemesis, analyzing every word in minute detail to catch out anything ‘wrong’ with what I had to say. With out my inner critic policing every word I say. I just pop out my laptop, settle into my chair, and let the words just flow out like it’s no big deal.

I no longer feel the need to find excuses to free myself from the chain attaching me to my laptop. I love that the thought of sitting down at my laptop just writing, no longer fills me with a sense of dread and panic. Last year I went from struggling to write 500 words (with constant distractions that included trips to the kitchen for just one more cup of tea or a snack), and now I can easily crank out 2000 words in just over an hour without all the trips to every other part of my house away from my desk. However, there are ways you can make it a lot easier for yourself.

But not one that’s always easy to master.
